How to Get Engaged at Any Age

This week, Jaki and I discuss how to get engaged at any age. All too often, women find themselves dealing with the struggle of attracting emotionally unavailable men. Jaki is here to offer you some of her relationship tips for you to meet the right man and finally get engaged!
Focus on Being Interested in Him, not Interesting Yourself
Jaki’s first tip on how to get engaged is show the person that you’re dating that you’re interested in him and put less importance on trying to be interesting yourself. When you put too much focus on trying to appear interesting to him, you can distract yourself from learning more about who he is as a person and partner. For example, a man you’re seeing on a first date could be setting off major red flags, but you didn’t notice them because you were too concerned with his perception of you. Instead, let your curiosity of him show, and he’ll know that you’re genuinely interested in what he has to say – he’ll let his guard down and tell you more about himself and the things that you want to know.
Get Engaged by Being Vulnerable, Open, and Honest
The second tip Jaki has to offer is to be vulnerable, open, and honest. When you are accepting of yourself, you’ll be able to reach that level of true vulnerability with your man. Be accepting of all your own flaws and mistakes, and you’ll be able to feel comfortable and not feel as though you have to rely on someone else’s acceptance. Heal the damaged parts of yourself so you can feel open to telling him all of your struggles and the ups and downs of your daily life to connect with him emotionally. If you experience difficulty in feeling vulnerable enough to let down your walls, realize that more often than not, our anxieties lie in the fear of being rejected. Get more curious about yourself and why you do the things you do to better heal your wounds and be more open with your partner.
Have an Opinion and Don’t be So Agreeable
Jaki’s third tip is to not be so agreeable. Men love a woman that can speak her mind and not always sit idly by and try to please. Even if your man doesn’t necessarily agree with your particular like or opinion, still express it. He will appreciate your willingness to express what turns you on and gets you excited about life. If you don’t like something, tell him. If you’re particularly passionate about something, let him know. Have your opinions and let them be known, but deliver them gently. Have fun and be a little sassy with him! Let him know that you don’t care for a particular food or activity, but deliver that opinion with a feather.
